Built by Hutchinson Brothers Boat Works in Alexandria Bay, NY in 1926 for former Illinois Governor Frank Lowden and his wife, "River Runner" spent her entire life in the Thousand Islands region. She provided the Lowdens with a stylish transport to and from their island (formerly owned by Mrs. Lowden's father, railroad magnate George Pullman) and social events on the mainland and other islands. In 1942 she was sold to a local plumbing and heating contractor and spent nearly fifty years as a workboat hauling propane tanks to island homes. Remarkably, she survived those difficult years and, following a complete restoration in the late 1990s, returned to her role as a graceful island commuter. "River Runner" has painted cedar side planks, varnished Honduran mahogany tops, decks and cabin sides, and a V-shaped mahogany transom for improved control in reverse. Her cabin includes crank windows, wicker chairs and a bench seat up front. She is powered by a 6-cylinder, 1951 Chrysler 125 HP engine that easily propels her in style and comfort. "River Runner" has won multiple awards at various boat shows in the Thousand Islands region.
