“We Three” has been a fixture on Long Lake in the Adirondacks since she was delivered to the original owner, WA Raney in April 1946. After the passing of Mr. Raney, his daughter sold the Gar Wood to Dr. and Mrs. Shelly in April 1996 and she remains on Long Lake to this day. She won numerous boat shows from South Carolina and North Carolina. The Clayton Boat show, is where she won Best preserved, Best Gar Wood and a few “Best of show”. This Gar Wood is about as original as any boat one can find other than some of the upholstery which was really beginning to show some wear. All the wood on her, including her bottom, is original. One might wonder when looking at her due to the lighter “sapwood” which is found on her forward port side, but that is exactly how she came from the factory. She was built to go to the 1946 New York Boat Show, but that show, due to the war, never became a reality and she was then taken to Hearn’s Dept. Store as a boat to use for sales. She was the only Gar Wood of her kind built and primarily for that show. Mr. Ranney had taken his daughter to Hearns to purchase clothing and saw this particular boat, inquired about purchasing one like it and was told “he should consider purchasing this boat due to rumors that the company would or might be closing in the near future. He purchased her on the spot. Mr. Raney purchased the boat right off the floor from the Dept. Store in January of 1946.

1936 16' Gar Wood Model 602. 95% of the work has been done on this boat. All it needs is someone to do the finish work. The boat has a new 5200 bottom built to be shown. The sides and decks have been skinned in 5200 to prevent movement. The engine has been fully rebuilt. Hardware is all rechromed including the windshield frame; not yet put on the boat Windshield is available, but needs to be installed. Wiring is completed with cloth-covered wire. Gauges on dashboard panel have been redone and installed. Seller has new leather for the interior and has all the seat frames, hardware and all else the comes with the boat. 5 Coats of varnish have been applied; needs about 3 more coats. All work has been professionally done. The boat just needs to be finished.

This is a replica 1935 Gar Wood Speedster that is currently in the frame-stage of the build process. Full plans are included for the balance of the build. Gauges and shift mechanism are set up to accept a modern V6 powerplant, source-able through Michigan Motorz, for example. Correct 15" three spoke steering wheel, horn button, column and steering unit, which have been restored. Gar Wood decals, along with all the hardware you see in the pictures. The paint is a gallon of gray paint for the frames and interior of the boat. The rub rail and spray rails are brand new. 3/4" pipe is included for the shift mechanism. A supply of African mahogany is also included which should be sufficient to complete the project. I purchased this classic boat in 2004 from a friend of mine who passed away. It is a 1946 16-foot Gar Wood utility boat with a Chrysler Ace 6-cycle "L" head engine and an EZ Loader trailer. Since I purchased the boat in 2004, I have put about $8,000 into repairs, restoration, and engine work. She has a traditional bottom that soaks up well. The engine was overhauled in 2012. The finish and upholstery are in excellent condition. The boat has not been in the water since 2014. She is stored in my heated garage and is in overall terrific condition.

Arguably the most prolific and significant raceboat and American history, "Miss America X", U-10, was the finale in Garfield Wood's dominance of the powerboat racing and world record setting career. Between 1920 and 1933, Gar Wood's boats won each Harmsworth Trophy Contest, the world's most recognized race and speed record setting event. "Miss America X" featured a quartet of highly tuned Packard V12 engines and was the first boat in history to achieve more than 2 miles per minute, topping out at 125.4 MPH in 1932. The craft defended the title once again in 1933 and was subsequently retired, but held the record well into the mid 1960's. The boat was acquired from the Wood family by William Harrah, American businessman and founder of Harrah Casinos in Las Vegas, later becoming Caesar's Palace. She was purchase from the Harrah estate and has been under single ownership for many decades, being offered on the market for the first time. Following a series of boat show and regatta appearances in the 1980's, "Miss America X" was comprehensively restored by Mayea Boatworks in the mid 1990's and has been on permanent display since this time.

A faithful reproduction of Gar Wood's Race Boat from 1925, Baby Gar IV. The original boat was made famous by racing against the Twentieth Century Limited Train from Albany to New York City. It was built in Brant Lake, NY using modern construction methods, including an epoxy bottom and cold molded planking over oak frames. She is powered with a Liberty Vimalert V-12 engine with a displacement of 1650 cubic inches, coupled to a Capital transmission, very similar to the original power package. This design was the result of a collaboration of Chris Smith and Gar Wood, who worked together on the design of these racing boats at that time. Baby Gar IV was the last one built during their time together.

Model 22-30 Runabout from first production year. This is the 14th built according to sources and the 3rd oldest known to exist. She was sold new by Fitzgerald & Lee of Alexandria Bay, NY. She was comprehensively restored on the west coast by one of the best in the business. Ready for evening cocktail cruises, or take it on the ACBS show circuit; this is one of the finest 22 footers we have seen. New West System no-soak bottom, new sides, new decks, engine entirely rebuilt from the crankshaft out, converted to 12V for easy starting. Complete with full cover and custom fitted trailer.

One of only eight model 22-35 Triple Cockpit Runabouts built in 1931! Two of these models are known to exist today. This 22 foot Gar Wood is in excellent condition and shows very well. Older restoration, kept on a lift and used sparingly. Replaced, no-soak bottom, excellent topsides, nice chrome and interior. Originally powered by a 125hp Chrysler Imperial 6cyl engine. Currently powered by a similar-era Chrysler 6cyl. This boat was built in 1931, but was not sold and delivered until 1934. She was titled and subsequently registered as a 1934 model. Awarded "Most Original" at Skaneateles 2018.

Only 2 of these 25'6 Triple Cockpit Custom Runabouts were built in 1941 making it an exceptionally rare boat. 1937-1941 marked Gar Wood's true "design perfection", building some of the most beautiful boats in production and setting a standard for all other competitors. With heavily crowned decks, rounded covering boards, and pronounced bow flare, the 1941 models are unmistakable. This example has been meticulously restored and is powered by a Scripps V-12 engine; one of the most expensive marine engines of the time. This "trophy fleet" model is ready to be enjoyed by a discerning collector.

This engine was originally in a 19' Foot twin cockpit Gar Wood hull #4272. The engine is incomplete and was purchased in the 50's. It is a total basket case and comes with the original gear box.

Single-owner, beautiful example of the popular 28 foot triple cockpit runabout. Based on the classic 1940s Gar Wood designs, this boat is ready to be enjoyed by a new family. Excellent condition all around with low engine hours, two new impellers, new belts, an 80 gallon gas tank, and lots of power waiting to push her up on plane.

A rare and unique 26 Foot Gar Wood Custom Cruiser built in 1936. This model one of only 34 made and was number 32 of 34 in the series. The boat was originally delivered to Cleveland, Ohio in 1936. New lumber bottom to top with a West System bottom, all new wiring. A bow thruster assist the driver in docking. It has had several fresh coats of varnish recently and has a rebuilt Chevy engine offering 200HP. It is a solid 28 MPH boat.

Purchased from the original owner in Louisville, KY in 1998. Engine and boat was completely refastened and restored from 1998 through to 2001. New varnish applied in 2012. Bottom is excellent and water tight. Restoration by the best, engine done by George Shinn, balanced and blue printed. All original hardware, instrumentation, engine, seat springs, seat frames, bow and stern poles, running lights and lenses. Marine seat leather dyed to original color specification of the boat. All wood framing has matching serial numbers. Engine has added steering wheel choke. Boat is in overall excellent condition and was in the water in summer of 2015.

This boat is a radio-controlled target boat. It was a special Gar Wood concept which the Army found to be vital for training gunnery personnel on rapidly moving targets. Gar Wood was given an Army contract to provide a total of 29 of these boats in 1942 and all were powered by a single engine Kermath. This is Hull# 4 bearing the Gar Wood Number 6768, U.S. Army Target Boat (JR-4) delivered on August 18th of 1942. This original 33 foot 6 inch, 4-cockpit Gar Wood is now ready for final restoration. The bottom of this boat has been re-done and now has a West system bottom with new ribs and frames. All the hard work has been done.Very rare find and with only a few ever built! Powered by a V-12 Kermath engine, complete with an additional parts motor.

This is # 19 of 27, 25ft Gar Woods ever built by Gar Wood, Hull # 6110. She was originally delivered to Alexandria Bay on the St Lawrence River and came to me through the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY. She was completely restored in 1999 by Dave Wright and won Best of Show at Tahoe's Concourse de Elegance. Fresh varnish was put on in 2013. The original Chrysler Majestic straight 8 engine is available. She rides better than a 22' and handles better than a 28'. She is a perfect show and user boat.

Originally displayed in the Gar Wood display at the 1936 New York Boat Show. Was then owned by A prominent Marine engine dealer in Boston. Boat has a new 5200 no soak bottom put on by Katz's Marina less than a year ago and has only been in the water once since. Had refresher coats of varnish. The decks have been replaced but the hull sides are original. Engine is a Chrysler Crown in-line 6. Has a new fuel pump, carb rebuilt, new prop shaft installed. Stuffing box rebuilt. Starts with push of the button. Runs beautiful. Comes with fenders, dock lines, and a waterline cover. Was a winner at Clayton in 2002. has a number of other regional awards. Trailer is a 2002 Quickload it was completely rebuilt. All new bearings springs were gone over, new wheels and tires. Completely ready to go. Moving and I can't take it with me. Open to offers.

This Gar Wood Twin Cockpit Runabout was built in 1940 and has been in the same family since 1965. The Chrysler Crown was replaced by a modern power Pontiac 389. The boat has the original sides and decks. The interior was re-done in 2011. The bottom is traditional with regular maintenance done through the years. The boat has been confirmed by Tony Mollica of the Gar Wood Society as Hull # 6566 which is number 85 out of only 122 ever made.The owner is no longer using it and is now ready to have the boat move on to a new owner.

1929 Baby Gar 28 ft.(my favorite boat out of the 4 I purchased). Includes mostly complete original numbers matching Chrysler Imperial 6cyl 106hp engine. This is an unmolested very original boat down to the remnants of original upholstery. I have grand plans for this one. It is one with the "Black Beauty" option from the factory with black painted sides and red bottom. It is a striking combination when done properly.

Here is a very rare 1937 (sold as a 1938) Gar Wood Triple...originaly owned by the founder of O'Bexer Boat Yard of Lake Tahoe, Jake O'Bexer. Hull #6189 of only 24 ever built. The boat has been rewooded by Dave Lobb and ready to have the finishing completed. Included are the gauge cluster recently restored by Clausen, all hardware remade by Al Shinner including all flagpoles, steering wheel, lights & etc. Also there is the prop shaft, prop & rudder. Missing are steering column, cutwater, interior & engine. There is no trailer.

This is a very rare Gar Wood cruiser that has had only one owner since new! This boat has been in the same family and on the same lake in Oklahoma since its delivery in 1938. in the water and has been well cared for all of its life. All documentation and history comes with this boat included the original bill of sale and telegram from Gar Wood. Gar Wood only made THREE of these and only one other of this model is known to exist on Lake Tahoe. The original Chrysler motor was in service until 15 years ago and was replaced with a similar, rebuilt engine.

Boat is registered with the Gar Wood society. Number 209 of 305. Boathouse stored and ready to use. The boat has been repowered and is quick and reliable.
